DICKIE W. McLAIN  MIDDLEBROOK, VA… Dickie Wayne McLain, 65, husband of Alice (Buchanan) McLain, of Middlebrook, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 9, 2018 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born September 6, 1952 in Fordwick, a son of the late Harry Franklin and Gladys Dell (Strickler) McLain. Prior to retirement, Mr. McLain was employed by McQuay with nearly 20 years of service and also managed Craigsville IGA for many years. Dickie was a member of Craigsville Holiness Church. He was an avid trout fisherman and gardener, active in church, had a quick wit, and enjoyed talking with people about the Lord. He also enjoyed singing. In addition to his wife of 20 years, family members include a sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and William “Rat” Sprouse of Craigsville; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Franklin McLain, Jr.  A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018, in Craigsville Holiness Church by Pastors Garey Wilson and Alan Meadows and Brother Daryl Gregory. Burial will follow in Hebron Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Gary Wilcher, Cody Wilcher, Spanky Bates, Jacob Wiseman, Jay Strickler, Billy Mitchell, H.A. Buchanan, and Scott Wiseman.  Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Wilcher, Brice Moran, Austin Painter, Brantley Wilcher, Charlie McLain, Hampton Cash, Andy Buchanan, Greg Strickler, and Timmy Buchanan. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2018, in the Henry Funeral Home and anytime at the residence. Memorials may be made to Craigsville Holiness Academy, 201 E. Craig Street, Craigsville, VA 24430. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and doctors at U.V.A., friends and family that were so supportive, and our Pastor Garey Wilson.
