Donald Eugene Andrus, Sr.

DONALD E. ANDRUS, SR. STAUNTON, VA Donald Eugene Andrus, Sr., 76, husband of Paula (Losch) Andrus of Staunton and formerly of Fairfax Hall, Waynesboro, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014, at Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born April 3, 1938, in Gouvenour, NY, a son of the late John V. and Stella (Newvine) Andrus. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a truck driver by Alyne Trucking, Roundhouse Mill, and Cooperative Feed Dealers in Chenango Bridge. He was a self-made carpenter, enjoyed watching any and all westerns, and loved wrestling. In addition to his wife of 56 years, whom he married February 4, 1958, family members include seven children, Karl Andrus, who preceded him in death, David Andrus of Charlottesville, Debbie Mendez and husband, Juan, Sr., of Puerto Rico, Donald Andrus, Jr. of TX, Anna Dunbar and husband, Ken, of Waynesboro, Wallace Andrus and wife, Robin, of Zepher Hills, FL, and Donna Smith and fiancé, Troy Keller, of Swoope; two brothers, Jack Andrus and Wallace Andrus; a sister, Jeanette White and husband, Walt Grant; fifteen grandchildren, Juan Mendez, Jr. and wife, Shelley, Theresa Wong and husband, Michael, Michelle Erdt and husband, Chris, Kristal Dunbar and fiancé, Steve Mead, Vanessa Coulter, Michael Smith and wife, Kristin, Kris Andrus, Amanda Carr and husband, Charles, Wallace Andrus, Jr. and fiancé, Elizabeth Mahaney, Marissa Andrus, Paula Mendez, Justin Smith, Kimberly Dunbar, Kaitlyn Smith, Brittany Dunbar; many great, great grandchildren; and Wes Raub. A celebration of his life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at his daughter's residence, 4552 Morris Mill Road, Swoope, VA 24479.
