Donald Leo Shipe

DONALD L. SHIPE  STAUNTON, VA… Donald Leo Shipe, 80, husband of Billijean (Kothbauer) Shipe, of Staunton, died Tuesday, January 2, 2018 in the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born May 11, 1937 in Staunton, a son of the late Charles J. and Helen (Drumheller) Shipe. Donald was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.  Prior to retirement, he was employed by Western State Hospital in the laboratory. He was also the owner/operator of D. L. Independent Farm Equipment. In addition to his wife, family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Donna  Shipe of Seneca, SC; two daughters and sons-in-law, Terrea and Dee Newcomb of Churchville and Charyl and Scott Baker of Staunton; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles Patrick and Catherine Shipe of Churchville; eight grandchildren, Brandie Shipe, Nikki Belch, Aaron Newcomb, Kylee Newcomb, Morgan Allanson, Dylan Allanson, Tristan Brown, and Landon Baker; three great grandchildren, Hunter Belch, Hudson Belch and Ellie Jarvis; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby A. Shipe and a sister, Betty McDorman. Graveside service will be private. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 in the Henry Funeral Home and other times at 335 Yount Avenue, Staunton.  Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O.
