Donna Kay Sweet

DONNA S. SWEET STAUNTON, VA Donna Kay (Simmons) Sweet, 55, wife of Donald R. Sweet, of 50 Ivey Lane, was released by her Lord from the hard fight of cancer, Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Augusta Health, Fishersville. She was born February 27, 1959, in Staunton a daughter of Richard Simmons of Churchville and the late Josephine (Greaver) Simmons. Mrs. Sweet was employed by McKee Foods. She was a member of Elk Run Church of the Brethren. In addition to her husband, family members include a daughter, Dana N. and husband, Nathan T. Woodson of Staunton; a brother, Gary Wayne Simmons of Verona; a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda L. and Wesley Brown of Apex, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Chloe V. Sweet, Jacob A. Sweet, and Alexis L. Woodson; and her special pet, Wilson. In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard L. Simmons. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Larry Strickler. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Brandon Sweet, Aaron Sweet, Jonathan Sweet, Bryan McDaniel, John Brown, and Justin Carter.
