DORIS H. KEGLEY FISHERSVILLE, VA Doris Rebecca "Meme" (Harper) Kegley, 86, widow of Jack Ephriam "Poppi" Kegley whom she wed April 27, 1946, passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 in Shenandoah Nursing Home. She was born March 13, 1927, in Danville, a daughter of the late Patrick H. and Minnie (Edwards) Harper. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She retired from Western State Hospital where she managed the canteen. She also worked at Harry's Grocery for many years. She devoted her life to loving and nurturing her family. Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Sue Kegley of Troutville; three daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia Lynette Overbey and Jo Ann Kegley, both of Staunton, and Rebecca and Mark Gibson of Shenandoah; nine grandchildren, Randall S. Mays, Michael J. Gibson, Larry W. Overbey, David P. Gibson, M. Jason Kegley, Timothy M. Gibson, Christopher L. Overbey, S. Jacob Kegley, and Robert E. Overbey; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by nine siblings. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, in Thornrose Cemetery by the Rev. Luke Smith and Murphy Terry, Chaplain with Legacy Hospice. The family will receive friends immediately prior to the service, from 12:30 until 2 p.m. in the funeral home and other times at the residence of her daughter, Patricia Lynette, 428 Albemarle Avenue, Staunton. Memorials may be made to the Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad, 1601 North Coalter Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
