DOUGLAS W. HOWDYSHELL, SR. STAUNTON, VA Douglas Weaver Howdyshell, Sr., 74, of 1121 Montgomery Ave., died Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born May 18, 1937, in Augusta County a son of the late Ernest M. and Iveta (Covvey) Howdyshell. Mr. Howdyshell was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Prior to retirement, he was a self-employed painter and worked in construction. Family members include a son, D. W. Howdyshell, Jr., of Staunton; a daughter, Peggy Sue Hemperley of Staunton; four brothers, Bennie Howdyshell, Kermit Howdyshell, George Howdyshell, and Roger Howdyshell, all of Staunton; a sister, Ruth Ann Kaminski of New Hope; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Dexter Lynn Howdyshell; a sister, Marion Janell and two brothers, Ernest C. Howdyshell and John Mark Howdyshell. A memorial service will be conducted at Henry Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, March 19, 2012 at 7 p.m. There will be no public viewing or visitation.
