DOUGLAS REXRODE CHURCHVILLE, VA Douglas Rexrode, 83, husband of Betty Rexrode, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2013, in Envoy of Staunton. He was born on May 21, 1929, in Highland County, to the late Ira and Maggie Jane (Rexrode) Rexrode. He was born, raised, and graduated from Highland County. He started work for the Chesapeake and Potomac (C&P) Telephone Company as a lineman. He worked 34 years before retiring from AT&T. He was a part time farmer and enjoyed raising cattle and gardening. He loved hunting and fishing and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. In addition to his wife of 64 years, family members include a daughter, Barbara Rexrode of Charlottesville; three brothers, Dale Rexrode of Waynesboro, Elbert Rexrode and his wife, Eleanor, of Waynesboro, and Robert Rexrode of Lexington; a sister, Louise Rexrode of Monterey; and a number of nieces and nephews and special friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Rexrode and Samuel Rexrode; and a sister, Eva Quist. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at St. James United Methodist Church in Churchville by the Rev. Rebecca Rumburg and the Rev. Ralph Grow. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service. Family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in the Henry Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, Inc., P.O. Box 937, Verona, VA 24482.
