Donald R. Stonesifer Jr.

CHURCHVILLE - Donald Reid Stonesifer, Jr., 77, husband of Brenda Stonesifer, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at RMH Medical Center.

He was born on August 18, 1944 in Hagerstown, MD to the late Donald R. and Katherine Belle (Auxt) Stonesifer.

Mr. Stonesifer retired from active service, National Guard and Reserves in the US Army after 36 years.

He worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with VDRS. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. His strength in faith led him to become a licensed Lutheran Lay Minister to serve God. He was a graduate of R.E. Lee High School, Blue Ridge Community College, JMU and VCU.

Mr. Stonesifer had a passion for firearms, shooting proficiency and hunting; plus taught hunter safey. He was a member of the Isaac Walter League. He enjoyed Sunday drives and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his son, Reid Stonesifer and wife Alejandra and their children, Shennan, Raquel, and Alexander; his daughter, Adair Griffin and her daughter Claire and fiancé John Fox; his brother Dr. Craig Stonesifer and wife Dana of Dover, DE; his brother Wayne Stonesifer of Currituck, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Henry Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 8, 2021 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tim Bohlmann. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Doug DeMuth, Frank Wade, George Coyner, II, Andy Cunningham, Werner Gstattenbauer, and Tony Farr.
