Dorothy Mae (Dell) Marshall, 81, wife of the late Dewey S. Marshall, of Staunton, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 13, 2021.
She was born February 6, 1940, in Highland Park, Illinois, the daughter of the late Theodore and Anna (Fecher) Dell.
Prior to retirement, she was employed by the Virginia Department of Transportation in the IT department. Before VDOT, she worked at Robert E. Lee High School as a librarian. Previously, she worked at Leggett’s in the office.
Dorothy was a loving wife, devoted mother and caring grandmother and great-grandmother, who enjoyed reading, stained-glass, yarn crafts, and playing Mahjong. She regularly volunteered at the American Shakespeare Center's Blackfriars Playhouse as an usher. She lived out her Christian faith in the way she loved and cared for her family and others.
She is survived by family members: three sons and daughters-in-law, Greg Marshall and wife, Beth, of Staunton, Gary Marshall and fiancee, Li Li, of Staunton, and Kevin Marshall and wife, Kim, of Fishersville; one daughter and son-in-law, Lucinda Segneri and husband, Laurent, of France; one sister, Betty Hourihan of Sarasota, Fl., one brother, Teddy Dell and wife Dottie, of Highwood, Il.; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Marshall, Stephen Marshall, Nikki Floyd and husband, Kyle, Whitney Poletti and husband, Royce, Ben, Alex and Angelique Segneri; and great-grandchildren, Jackson and baby Poletti, and Bailey Mae Floyd.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Dell and his wife, Maureen; brother-in-law, Tom Hourihan; and granddaughter, Megan Marshall.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Brookdale Senior Living and Hospice of the Shenandoah for their care.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Bridge Christian Church, 1275 Goose Creek Road, Fishersville, VA 22939, by Pastor Todd Brown. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be at 2:30 pm at McClintic Cemetery in Williamsville, Va.
