Earl Matthew "Buddy" Logan

Earl Matthew “Buddy” Logan, widower of Mary Lucille (Rimel) Carpenter Logan, passed into eternal life Monday, January 11, 2016. Born on September 26, 1920 in Augusta County, he was the oldest of four boys and nine girls to Earl Lyle and Carrie Belle (Grimm) Logan. Mr. Logan graduated from Beverley Manor High School being president of his class in 1940. Mr. Logan enjoyed participating in many sports beginning with basketball, baseball and bowling.  Mr. Logan lived his entire life in Staunton and Augusta County, retiring in 1973 as a Staunton Postal Carrier. Mr. Logan was a member of Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church.  A World War II Veteran, he was a life member of American Legion Post 13 and was also a life member of (NARFE) National Association of Retired Federal Employees. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife in 1985; three brothers, Oswald, Clarence and John W. Logan; and three sisters, Marie L. Buchanan, Juanita L. Hill and Bonnie L. Patterson. Mr. Logan is survived by sisters, Ferraba Whitesell, Peggy L. Arehart (Floyd), Laura Ruth Spitzer, Betty Sue Layton (Jim), Alice L. Cooper (Larry), and Dorothy L. Richie (Don). A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2016 in Augusta Memorial Park by Pastor Bob Sharp  The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 in the Henry Funeral Home. Special thanks to Rhonda and Todd Wilmore for years of neighborly hospitality.
