EDITH R. HUFFMAN STAUNTON, VA Edith Florence (Reed) Huffman, widow of Russell Glenn Huffman, Jr., of 110 Skyline Avenue, died Friday, November 8, 2013, in Shenandoah Nursing Home, Fishersville. She was born September 2, 1935, in Augusta County, a daughter of the late William Frank and Antha Virginia (Lucas) Reed. She was a member of Spring Hill Presbyterian Church, where she served as Sunday School teacher, circle chairman and was a member of the Presbyterian Women and Joy Circle. She liked NASCAR, the Washington Redskins, reading, loved to bake, loved listening to music, especially country, and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband of 35 years, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Irene R. Rexrode; a brother, Ray Calrien Reed, an infant brother; and two infant sisters. Family members include a daughter, Sue Ellen Huffman of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney Glenn and Kerry Huffman of Shalimar, Florida, and Russell Scott and Ella Huffman of Spring Hill; a brother and sister-in-law, Franklin J. and Jane Reed of Staunton; two sisters, Mary R. Eckard of Sangerville and Patsy R. Grant of Waynesboro; a foster sister, Shirley and husband, Donnie Hilty of McKinley; two grandchildren, Gabriele and Andrew Huffman of Florida; two step-grandsons, Shawn and Kimberley Toman of Waynesboro and Kris Patrick and Cameron Toman of Italy; seven step-great grandchildren, Chapman, Jordan, Hannah, Katie, Mary, Samantha, and Natalie Toman; three sisters-in-law, Jane and husband, Mark Cook of Waynesboro, Gladys H. Mullins, and Bonnie Reed, both of Stuarts Draft; many nieces and nephews; and her dog, Chloe. By her wishes, the body was cremated. She was also an organ donor. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2013, in Spring Hill Presbyterian Church by Pastor Charles McFarlin. Burial will be private at Pleasant View Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, November 10, 2013, in the Henry Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Augusta SPCA, P.O. Box 2014, Staunton, VA 24402, or to the Spring Hill Presbyterian Church Compassion Committee, 4141 Spring Hill Road, Staunton, VA 24401.
