STAUNTON, VA Edith Lucille (Hill) Paxton, 93, widow of Hillary Wilson Paxton, of Staunton, died Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at her residence. She was born August 16, 1921, in Lexington, a daughter of the late Emory E. and Daisey (Padgette) Hill. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Paxton was clerk of court for the City of Staunton from 1951 until 1978. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Family members include a sister, Bertha G. (Hill) Paxton Mills of Staunton; a nephew, Ron Paxton and wife, Peggy; a godchild, Lee Ann Beam; and special friend, Betty Newsome. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mildred Hill. A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Steve Traylor. Burial will be private in Thornrose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church food pantry, 406 W. Frederick Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
