Edith Vivian Swisher

Edith Vivian (Fitzgerald) Swisher, 86, wife of Isaac Epharm Swisher, Jr. of Staunton, died on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at her residence. She was born on September 26, 1926 in Augusta County, a daughter of Robert Franklin and Jessie Mae (Weaver) Fitzgerald. Prior to her retirement in 1984, she was a Communication Supervisor at Western State Hospital. She was also a former member of the Volunteer Services at Western State Hospital. In addition to her husband of 66 years, family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Donna Swisher of Waynesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Joe Armstrong of Lone Fountain; four grandchildren, Scott Armstrong and wife, Samantha, Lance Armstrong and fiancé Christina, Kevin Swisher, and Kristen Swisher; three great grandchildren, Austin Armstrong, Josef Armstrong, Jaxson Dulaney; and a step-great grandchild, Robert Knupp; two brothers, Robert Fitzgerald and wife, Thelma of Churchville and Hunter Fitzgerald and wife, Nancy of Waynesboro; two sisters, Sara Propst and husband, Richard of Stuarts Draft and Connie Stone and husband, Darryl of Craigsville. She was preceded in death by brothers, Earl, Alvin and Wallace Fitzgerald; and sisters, Reba Corbett, Bonnie Allen and Virgie Arnold. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2012 in Henry Funeral Home by the Rev. Kevin Persinger. Interment will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9, Tuesday, October 16, 2012.
