EDWARD R. KNOLL STAUNTON, VA Edward Russell Knoll passed on to be with his Lord on Monday, September 16, 2013. He was born on February 2, 1927 in Philadelphia, son of Waldo Sawyer Knoll and Florence Electra Knoll. He attended Fishburne Military Academy in Waynesboro, VA from 1943-1945 and served in the US Army Air Force 1945-1946 (in the European Army of Occupation with the 306th Bomb Group and 926th Signal Battalion). He received a BS from the U. of Maryland and graduated from the U. of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry in 1953. Edward was married to his beloved wife, Karen Maureen Hoffman Knoll on February 17, 1968. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, three children, Charles Edward, Meredith Ann, and Christopher Allan, two grandsons, Ryan Charles, 10, and Alexander Ian, 8, a daughter-in-law, KuanYin, a son-in-law, Steven, a brother, Charles S. Knoll, DDS of Ft. Myers, and two nieces, Laura and Sally. After practicing dentistry for over 45 years in Flemington, NJ, he retired to Fishersville, VA. Edward was a pilot, an avid golfer, a frequent supporter of his churches' projects, donating to those in need and as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in his local community. He was a faithful member for sixteen years of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church and a Funeral Mass will be offered there on Friday, September 20, 2013 at 10 am. Rosary, Viewing and Reception for friends and family will be held at Henry Funeral Home, West Beverly St., Staunton, VA on Thursday, 6-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis-Haiti Outreach, PO Box 2563, Staunton, VA 24402-2563. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.henryfuneralhome.net .
