Effie Florence Grant

Effie Florence (Marcum) Grant, 84, widow of Cecil Leroy Grant of Staunton, died Wednesday, December 12, 2018, in Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg.             She was born October 14, 1934, in Mingo County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late James Arthur and Martha Jane (Salmons) Marcum.             Prior to retirement, Mrs. Grant was employed by Valley Community Board.             In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Billy C. Grant; six brothers; two sisters; and three grandchildren, Andrea Welcher, James C. Dooley, and Stacy Eutsler.             Family members include three sons, Ray Duke Vest, James L. Grant, and Edward Grant; three daughters and sons-in-law, Gilda A. and Jeffrey Emmons, Janie V. Dooley and Lio, and Lois J. and Stoney Lester; a sister, Ruthie Jane Wimer; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren.             A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, December 17, 2018, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Janet Elsea. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.             The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2018, in the funeral home.             Condolences may be sent to the family at www.henryfuneralhome.net .
