    July 7, 1918 - July 27, 2013

    Elizabeth Mae (Smiley) Davis, 95, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Shenandoah Nursing Home in Fishersville. She was the widow of Robert W. Davis, Sr. and the daughter of the late Clarence Walker and Mary Beatrice (Fox) Smiley. She is survived by three sons, Robert W. Davis, Jr. and his wife, Janet, of Swoope, William Edward "Bill" Davis, and his wife , Julie, of Vienna and Gayland Davis, and his wife, Diane, of Staunton; seven grandchildren, Cynthia D. Heizer and husband, Keith, of Staunton, Timothy Davis and wife, Fonda, of Staunton, Andrea D. Thurston of Waynesboro, Edward Davis of Williamsburg, Carol Davis of Washington, DC, Robert A. Davis of Pueblo, CO, and Kimberley D. Nicely and husband, Timothy, of Wardensville, WV; four great grandchildren, Jeremy Heizer, Brittany Heizer, of Staunton, Ryan Pierce of Fishersville, and Karlee Nicely of Pasadena, MD; one sister, Katherine S. Davis of Staunton, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Davis is preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers, Frances S. Gordon, Irene S. Swisher, Dorothy S. Swisher, Clarence E. "Pete" Smiley, Charles Edgar "Ed" Smiley, and Floyd Smiley. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Joanne Bunn. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be nephews, Raymond Swisher, Gary Swisher, Glenn Swisher, Jack Davis, Richard Davis and Frank Smiley. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Henry Funeral Home, 1030 West Beverley Street, Staunton, VA or at other times at the home of Gayland and Diane Davis at 2776 Lee Jackson Highway, Staunton, VA. A special thanks to Dr. H. Lynn Moore for his wonderful care over the years. Thanks also to the staff at Emeritus (Loyalton) of Staunton and the staff at Shenandoah Nursing Home of Fishersville. Memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 334 Mt. Tabor Road, Staunton, VA 24401.
