STAUNTON, VA Elizabeth "Bitsy" Shaffer Drewry, 54, of Staunton, passed away peacefully with her family and friends by her side on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Kings Daughters' Health and Rehab Center, in Staunton, Virginia, following a brave and courageous battle with brain cancer. She was the wife of Robert "Michael" Drewry, Jr. Bitsy was born in Clifton Forge, Virginia on March 24, 1961, the loving daughter of the late Theodore "Ted, Jr." Shaffer Jr. and Violet Hayslett Shaffer. She was the daughter-in-law of Robert M. Drewry Sr. and Ann R. Drewry. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Marie and Burman Hayslett and Dolly and Theodore Shaffer, Sr. She is survived by her sister, Joan Shaffer Akers and husband, Rodger, of Lynchburg. Also by her brother, John M. Shaffer and wife Jennifer of Clifton Forge. Bitsy was a loving and endearing mother to her children: Jason Davis, Brandt Davis, Raymond Wallace, Jasper Davis and Noel Davis Pennybacker. She was the beloved grandmother "Mia" to seventeen precious grandchildren. She is also survived by a loving family of cousins, a community of dedicated friends and many, many more who came to love her as friend, sister, caregiver, co-worker, second mother, etc. She was a kind, loving person who was blessed with a sweet soul. She had the unique ability to form friendships wherever she went. She could light up a room with her sweet smile. She will be greatly missed. She was a devoted member of Fishersville United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir before her health failed and she was unable to attend. Bitsy was known for her lovely singing voice. She was a member of Blue Mountain Myst Band for many years and will be greatly missed by her sisters in song, Beth Ihme and Laura Ashworth. She was involved in local theatre in Clifton Forge, VA, playing Patsy Cline in "Always Patsy Cline" and also was in "Honkey Tonk Angels." Her loving and giving nature continues beyond her death, as she has chosen to donate her body to science so that others may be helped by studying her brain cancer and with the hope we will one day find a cure for the horrible disease. Therefore, no formal funeral service will be held. It was her wish to have a Celebration of Life service. Celebration of Life services will be held as follows: Fishersville United Methodist Church in Fishersville, VA on Saturday, May 2, 2105 at 11:00 AM. Central United Methodist Church in Clifton Forge, VA on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM.
