ELIZABETH JEAN VERONESI STAUNTON, VA… Elizabeth “Jean” Veronesi, 89, widow of Robert Earl Veronesi, of Staunton, died Saturday, September 15, 2018, in Augusta Health and Rehab, Fishersville. She was born August 1, 1929, in Randolph, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Thomas Philip and Laura Lillian (Wilkinson) Hendrick. She graduated from Brockton High School and the Brockton Hospital School of Nursing.She helped employees receive benefits by forming the Nurses Union in 1980 at Brockton Hospital. She was also secretary/treasurer of the Massachusetts Nurses Association as well as the critical care nursing instructor for Cardiac Life Support. Jean loved to help and volunteer. She served as chaplain for the Staunton-Augusta VFW Post 2216, volunteered at the Augusta Health Clinic and the Catholic daughters of the Americas. Jean was a wonderful story teller. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a local ladies auxiliary book club. She was also an avid animal lover that always had 2 dogs at any given time. Jean was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and English Style horse rider. She was a devout Catholic that never missed a Sunday Mass her entire life. Prior to retirement, she was a registered nurse for over 60 years at Brockton Hospital. Surviving family members include her children, Deborah Jean Genovese and husband Dr. Vincent Genovese; Paul Alan Veronesi and wife Kathryn of Middleboro, MA; Michael Dana Veronesi of Staunton and friend Deborah Handy of Fishersville, VA; Joel Andrew Veronesi of Bridgewater, MA; Lisa JeanMarie Veronesi-Glass and husband Joseph of Natural Bridge, VA; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Earl Veronesi, Jr., a sister, Louise Anne Hendrick formerly of Boston, MA and her brother, Thomas Joseph Hendrick formerly of Brockton, MA. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
