ELLA H. COLVIN STAUNTON, VA Ella Hayes Colvin, 88, widow of Charles Colvin, of Staunton and formerly of Craigsville, went to be with the Lord Thursday, November 20, 2014, at King's Daughters' Community Health and Rehab Center. She was born September 2, 1926, in Goshen, a daughter of the late Harvey and Bertie (Pugh) Hayes. Mrs. Colvin was employed as a psychiatric aide by Western State Hospital. Prior to working at Western State, she was employed by the Stillwater Worsted Mills in Craigsville and Augusta Springs. Ella loved her job at Western State Hospital and touched the lives of all that knew her. Ella loved doing things for her family and friends and will be greatly missed. She was a member of Craigsville Southern Baptist Church for over 50 years. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Farrar and a brother, Bobby Hayes. Family members include two daughters, Donna Colvin Reynolds and Susan Colvin Bowers and husband, Fred; five grandchildren, Crystal Culpen and husband, Greg, Heather Bowers, Dustin Reynolds and wife, Hillary, Dennis Reynolds, and Michael Reynolds; six great grandchildren, Paul and Carmen Mawyer, Dylan and Conner Culpen, and Dalton and Easton Reynolds; a brother, Donald Hayes and wife, Willie; a brother-in-law, George T. Colvin Jr. and wife, Josephine; a sister-in-law, Gloria Hayes; and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2014 in Craigsville Southern Baptist Church by Tom Quick. Burial will follow in Craigsville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the residence of her daughter, Susan, 151 Hotchkiss Road, Churchville. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
