ELVA C. TUTTLE STAUNTON, VA… Elva May (Crickenberger) Tuttle, 89, of Staunton, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016. She was the widow of William L. Tuttle. She was born March 15, 1927, in Crimora, to Howard Franklin and Gracie Layne Crickenberger. She attended area schools, graduating from New Hope High School in 1944 and later from the Elizabeth Brant School of Business in Staunton. Upon graduation from high school, she was employed by the DuPont Company and worked in the textile operations and in office positions at the Waynesboro location. She retired in 1978 after almost 34 years of service. It was at DuPont that she met her husband, and they married in January 1947.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, James B. and Juanita Tuttle; a brother, Raymond F. Crickenberger; two sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Woods Crickenberger and Nancy Lotts Crickenberger; and two brothers-in-law, John Brooks Tuttle and Eugene C. Tuttle. Survivors include, a son and daughter-in-law, William Southard and Kim Tuttle of Port Republic; four grandchildren, William Christopher Tuttle and wife, Heidi of Troy, Nicole Cridlebaugh and husband, Cam, of High Point, North Carolina, Robert Shea Tuttle of Covington, and Drayton Tyler Tuttle; four great grandchildren, Tilman, Rowan, and Emily Cridlebaugh, and Sierra Hott; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Crickenberger of Weyers Cave and Janet Tuttle of Staunton; and many beloved nieces and nephews, as well as many cherished personal, work, and church friends. She was a devoted and active member since 1955 of Hebron Presbyterian Church, 423 Hebron Road, where a memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2016.  Friends will be received in the Fellowship Hall of the church following the service. In tribute of her memory, the family requests contributions be made to Hebron Presbyterian Church, 423 Hebron Road, Staunton, VA 24401 or to a local charity of choice. Interment in Thornrose Cemetery in the presence of family members and close friends will precede the memorial service. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
