EUGENE L. REED WAYNESBORO, VA…             Eugene Lewis “Buddy” Reed, 81, husband of Geraldine “Gerri” (Phillips) Reed, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at his residence after a battle with bone marrow cancer.             He was born August 5, 1936, in Middlebrook, a son of the late Eugene Taylor and Violet (Wade) Reed.             He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Korea.             Prior to retirement, he was employed by Rule Honda and McDonough Dodge.             He was a member of Jollivue United Methodist Church where he held numerous offices.             He was a member of the Waynesboro Moose Lodge #1309, the Staunton Eagles Lodge #680, where he was past president, the VFW Post #2216, the American Legion, and TPA.             He was preceded in death by all his siblings, Robert Taylor Reed, Ruth Ellen Reed, Janet Tinsley, Betty Weaver, James “Jim” Howard Reed, and Raymond “Ray” Reed; and a son, Curtis Lynn Reed.             In addition to his wife of 59 years, family members include four sons and two daughters-in-law, Eugene L., Jr. and Kimberly Reed of Staunton,  Kenneth C. “Kenny” and Tina Reed of Greenville, Keith C. Reed of Waynesboro, and Mark C. Reed of Stuarts Draft; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.               A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2017 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Sarah Payne. Burial will be private.             At the family’s request there will be no public viewing.             The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2017 in the funeral home.             Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah, c/o Augusta Health Foundation, P.O.
