STAUNTON, VA…             Eugene Lee “Gene” Lawson, 77, widower of Joyce (Reaves) Lawson of Staunton, died Friday, September 9, 2016, in Augusta Health, Fishersville.             He was born on January 15, 1939 in Augusta County a son of the late Rosie Virginia Lawson.                      Mr. Lawson was a member at Barren Ridge Church of the Brethren, VFW Post 2216 and the Augusta County Democratic Committee.             Prior to retirement, he was a self-employed carpenter and former owner of J’s Thrift & Gift Shop in Staunton.                Family members include a son, Steven Lawson and wife, Anastasia of Staunton; a step-son, Curtis Bowser of Maryland; three daughters, Angie Lawson of Verona, Kristy L. Kisamore and husband, Jeff of Maryland and Vanessa Coursey and husband, Bruce of Swoope; numerous aunts and uncles; and thirteen grandchildren, Alyshia Kauffman, Desire Zimmerman, Wray Knierim, Brandon Lawson, Shelby Lawson, Allison Huffman, Madilyn Kisamore, Emma Kisamore, Curtis Bowser, Jr., Christian Bowser, Gracie Bowser, Dylan Sutton and Christopher Mauzy.             A funeral service will be conducted at Henry Funeral Home on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 2:00 PM by Pastor Brian Posey.  Burial will follow in Barren Ridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery.             Family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Henry Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his daughter, Angie Lawson, 133 Augusta Street, Verona.              Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1445 E. Rio Road, Suite 104, Charlottesville, VA 22901.             Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
