Eugene Conway Tuttle

Eugene C. Tuttle Staunton, VA Eugene Conway Tuttle, 86, of The Legacy at North Augusta, Staunton, died at home with his wife in attendance on November 8, 2013. He was born on October 21, 1927 to James Brooks and Juanita (Angus) Tuttle of Craigsville. He served his country honorably in the Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Following his service, he was employed by Dominion Power as an instrument technician at Possum Point Power Station and retired as the electrical supervisor at North Anna Power Station in 1986. He married Janet Marie Robertson in Craigsville on October 22, 1955. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Anita Tuttle; son James and wife Kip (Gansneder) and their daughter Taryn Tuttle; daughter Mary Tuttle and her daughter Amanda Atwell and son Eugene Underwood; sisters-in-law Elva Tuttle, Marianne Pairet, and Carolyn Hicks; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers John Brooks and William Littleton Tuttle of Staunton. A man of faith and humility, he served as deacon at Friendship Baptist Church (Fredericksburg) and Gordonsville Baptist Church. He and his wife retired to a 75 acre farm at Buffalo Gap in Augusta County where they enjoyed over 20 years of country life and traveling prior to moving to The Legacy in August of this year. During this time he served as deacon and elder at Hebron Presbyterian Church. He was a Mason of the Millboro Lodge for over 50 years. The family will receive friends at Henry Funeral Home on Friday, November 15 from 6 PM to 8 PM. A celebration of his life will be held at Hebron Presbyterian Church, Staunton, on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM followed by interment in the church cemetery. For those wishing to do so, the family would be honored to have memorial contributions made to Hebron Presbyterian Church or the Augusta Regional SPCA. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
