    January 6, 1923 - November 23, 2013

    EUGENIA G. SHIFLETT STAUNTON, VA Eugenia "Jean" Deane (Garrett) Shiflett, 90, wife of Hansford "Bub" Allen Shiflett, of 946 Balsley Road, died Saturday, November 23, 2013, in Augusta Health, Fishersville. She was born January 6, 1923, in Lost River, West Virginia, a daughter of the late James Ferguson and Daisye Belle (Haas) Garrett. Mrs. Shiflett was employed by American Safety Razor for 14 years and retired from Mid Valley Press. She was a member of Fishersville United Methodist Church. She was a loving and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend and will be greatly missed. In addition to her husband of 74 years, family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Roger Allen and Goldie Shiflett; two grandsons, W. Todd and Lisa Shiflett and Eric and Virginia Shiflett; two great grandsons, Christopher and Travis Shiflett; two great granddaughters, Katlyn and Hannah Shiflett; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Lorene Garrett and Robert and Shirley Garrett; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Thelma G. Massey and Audrey and Earl Blackwell; special nephews and nieces; and special friends, Jim and Donna Ashby. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ferguson Massey Garrett; and two sisters, Eva G. Palmer and Merle G. Roy A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2013, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Larry Jent. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Eric Shiflett, Todd Shiflett, Christopher Shiflett, Travis Shiflett, Jim Ashby, and Cornel Nulty. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry "Dukie" Burns, G. E. Matchett, Jr., Gary Nulty, David Shifflett, and Stacy Painter. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2013, in the funeral home and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Fishersville United Methodist Church, Memorial Fund, 1600 Jefferson Highway, Fishersville, VA 22939.
