EVA M. PALMER STAUNTON - Eva Mae (Garrett) Palmer, age 93, widow of Murray Palmer, of 26 E. Gay Street in Staunton, VA died Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Augusta Health. She was born May 16, 1919, in Lost River, WV, daughter of the late James F. and Daisy Belle (Haas) Garrett. Mrs. Palmer was retired from Mary Baldwin as an Alumni Administrator. She was a member of Fishersville UM Church. Family members include a daughter, Sandy Kyle of Staunton; a son and his wife, Ted G and Brenda Shell; two brothers and their wives, Jimmy and Loraine Garrett of Collinsville, Robert and Shirley Garrett of Staunton; three sisters and their husbands, Jean and Bub Shifflett, Audrey and Earl Blackwell, all of Staunton; Thelma Massie of Greenville; five grandchildren, Misty and Troy Kyle, Cindy Armstrong, Alicia Harris, Kristen Crawford; and six great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ferguson Massie Garrett; a sister, Merle Roy; and a grandson, Chad Kyle. Graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October, 1, 2012 in Thornrose Cemetery by the Rev. Larry Jent. Memorials may be made to the SPCA, P.O. Box 2014, Staunton, VA, 24402.
