EVELYN J. COOK  STAUNTON, VA… Evelyn June (Brumbaugh) Cook, 83, widow of Robert Cook, of Staunton, died Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Brookdale. Evelyn was born June 17, 1935 in Akron, Ohio, a daughter of the late Harry E. and Eva Ethel (Ryder) Brumbaugh. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1952. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Western State Hospital as a nurse for many years. Evelyn loved telling stories, taking trips, socializing and dancing at the Staunton Moose Lodge, participating in a local retirement group and spending time with her friends and family. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Western State Hospital as a nurse. Family members include a brother, Marvin Edward Brumbaugh of Staunton; a sister, Violet May Campbell of Stuarts Draft; a sister-in-law, Nancy Brumbaugh; three nephews, Wayne Brumbaugh and wife Candy, Michael K. Brumbaugh of Staunton, and Clinton Campbell and wife Queenie; three nieces, Terresa P. Brumbaugh, Glenda Fitzgerald, and Doris Trant; and multiple great-nieces and great-nephews.    A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2018 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Harold W. “Pete” Campbell. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be Wayne Brumbaugh, Mike Brumbaugh, Richard Niess, John Jackson, Scott Yeago, Mike Carter, and Gary Huffer. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
