EVELYN H. SANDY STAUNTON, VA… Evelyn Virginia (Harner) Sandy, 82, widow of James M. Sandy, of Staunton, died Saturday, December 23, 2017, at her residence. She was born April 15, 1935, in McGaheysville, a daughter of the late Malcolm and Wilda (Monger) Harner. She was a member of Victory Worship Center. She enjoyed her friends at Staunton Fitness and time with her special friends, The Golden Girls. Evelyn was a beautiful and selfless soul who spent her life serving others and was loved by all.In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa B. Sandy; three brothers, Howard Harner, Kenneth Harner, and Marion Harner; and a sister, Susie Short. Family members include three children, Michael J. Sandy and his wife, Michelle; Amy Sandy Vames and her husband, Geoffrey, and Gina Sandy and her fiance`, Rob Finch; five grandchildren; an unofficially adopted daughter, Elizabeth Geris Sacco and husband, Jim; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Shirley Harner of Middlebrook; a sister, Helen Goodmon of Alburquerque, New Mexico; a number of loved nieces and nephews and extended family members; and her beloved dog, Zoey. A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017, in Victory Worship Center by the Rev. Ray Eppard. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Augusta Regional S.P.C.A., P.O. Box 2014, Staunton, VA 24402 or to the Shriner’s Hospital, 3551 N.
