Eugene C. & Mildred L. Jenkins

Eugene C. & Mildred L. Jenkins passed away in August of 2021.

Mildred Louise (Hooker) Jenkins, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother went home to be with her Lord on August 26,2021. Mildred was born in Beaufort County, NC on February 24, 1940, to the late Melvin Mayo Hooker and Mattie (Davenport) Hooker Staples.

She married Eugene C. Jenkins on September 11, 1959.

She retired from Wal-Mart of Staunton. She was a generous person to anyone that needed help or a kind word. She served her Savior through her ministry to children. She was an avid crafter. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She had two canine angels, Sebastian and Alex.

Mildred was preceded in death by her stepfather, Bradford Staples; sister Bessie Mae Tatum; and stepbrother James Staples.

She is survived by her brother, Melvin Hooker Jr.

Eugene Campbell Jenkins, Sr., beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather went home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife of 62 years on August 30,2021.

Eugene was born in Staunton on March 17, 1939, to the late Charles Preston Jenkins and Susan Jane (Walters) Jenkins.

Eugene retired from Smith Transfer. He enjoyed serving the Lord in his Church and supporting missionaries around the world. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, restoring old cars, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Eugene is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Jenkins; sister, Peggy Ann Wuerzburger; and three brothers, Charles, Marvin, and Fred Jenkins.

Eugene, Sr. and Mildred are survived by a daughter, Maria Jenkins of Waynesboro; a son, Eugene Jenkins Jr (Audrey) of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Victoria Craig (Jeremy), Susan Martin (Trever), and Candace Jenkins; great grandchildren, Amara Martin and Everdeen Martin; and lifelong friends, Brenda Tanksley and Gray Krichbaum.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Henry Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Henry Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Shenandoah Baptist Church Cemetery.
