Frances Cash

WAYNESBORO, VA Frances Geneva "Panky" (Courtney) Cash, 71, wife of Gene Nelson Cash, Sr., of Waynesboro, died Thursday, January 1, 2015, at her residence. She was born March 26, 1943, in Waynesboro, a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Geneva (Tomes) Courtney Hinkle. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Wayne-Tex which is now Mohawk Carpet. Frances was a member of Fishersville Baptist Church and loved the New York Yankees and drag racing. She is survived by her husband whom she first met on January 1, 1960 and then married on April 1, 1961 and spent fifty five wonderful years together. Family members include one sister, Linda Sue Woods of Crozet; two grandchildren, Jeannette Cash and fiancé, Paul Sprouse, and Jessica Nicole Cash and significant other, Cole Furry; three great grandchildren, Ashton and Avery Sprouse and Kinsley Furry; and daughter-in-law, Jenny Cash. She was preceded in death by two sons, Kirk Douglas Cash and Gene Nelson Cash, Jr.; three sisters; Carol Phillips, Roberta Campbell and Brenda McCann. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2015, in Fishersville Baptist Church by the Revs. John Sullivan, Steve Johnson and John Hamric. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Buck Fitzgerald, Nelson Carter, Mark Patterson, Matt Hopewell, Glenn Swisher, Fred Ashby, Phil Mohler, Earl McGuffin and Joe Fauber. Honorary pallbearers will be Jere Fitzgerald, Heather Carter, Lindsey Hopewell, Sandy Swisher, Marie Brooks, Becky Mohler, Janice McGuffin, Cathy Fauber and Becky Wells. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2015, in the Henry Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Fishersville Baptist Church, P.O.
