STUARTS DRAFT, VA Sgt. Frank Henry Painter, 84, husband of Louise (Miller) Painter, of Stuarts Draft, passed away suddenly Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at his residence. He was born on September 13, 1930, in Marlbrook, a son of the late William A. and M. Ruth (Drawbond) Painter. Mr. Painter was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War. He was rewarded numerous medals including the Purple Heart. He retired after 50 years of service from the Lycra Department at DuPont where he was a supervisor and an electrical engineer. He first retired in December of 1985 and then stayed on for another 16 years. He was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church of Stuarts Draft and drove the church bus back in the early 1970's. He enjoyed the children he got into church and on his bus. Frank enjoyed working, fixing something, or building something. There was nothing he could not fix or build. He enjoyed genealogy for a number of years in his spare time and took up scuba diving in 1977. He enjoyed traveling after retirement and using his metal detector on the beaches during his travels. He traveled for DuPont, going to Iran in 1978 for the company, where he helped to build and setup a plant. He enjoyed growing and eating Mr. Stripy tomatoes in the summer. He is survived by his adoring and loving wife, Louise A. (Miller) Painter, whom he married July 14, 1979 at the home he built many years before. He is also survived by a son by his first marriage, Dean F. Painter; and four brothers and two sisters, H. Garfield Painter, Willie E. Painter, Warren H. Painter, Earl T. Painter, Carol E. Painter and Sylvia I. Painter Dill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings. It was requested by Frank that he have only a private graveside service and no flowers.
