FREDDIE B. JENKINS  STAUNTON, VA… Freddie Banks Jenkins, 88, widower of Annie Gordenia (Snow) Jenkins, of Staunton, died Monday, January 23, 2017 in Augusta Health. He was born May 9, 1928 in Lexington, a son of the late Charles P. and Susan (Walters) Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins retired after 20 years of service as Master Chief Petty Officer from the U.S. Navy having served in WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Following retirement, he worked for the Employment Commission and served as Veterans Claims Agent for our five local counties. He attended Good News Ministries and was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, and DAV Fleet Reserve. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Jean Nuckols; a brother, Charles A. Jenkins; and a sister, Peggy Wuerzberger. Family members include a daughter, Carrie Rebecca Fielding and her husband, Frank, of Stuarts Draft; two brothers, Marvin Jenkins of Victorville, CA and Eugene C. Jenkins, Sr. of Staunton; a son-in-law, Bill Nuckols; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two great, great grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2017, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Gregory Miller. Burial will be private.  Military rites will be provided by Augusta-Staunton VFW Post #2216. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2017, in the funeral home.
