Fitzhugh “Hut” Hamilton Vass, Jr., 85, husband of Madonna Diesburg Vass, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022 at his residence.
Hut was born on June 27, 1937 in Danville, Virginia to Fitzhugh Hamilton, Sr. and Mary Frances Jackson Vass.
He was a member of Saint Francis Catholic Church in Staunton and the National Rifle Association. He had worked in sales in the pharmaceutical industry and served as a manager with APM Arms of Virginia Beach.
He is survived by his son, Fitzhugh “Buddy” Hamilton Vass, III and his wife, Lynn, of Virginia Beach; his daughter, Freya Vass of Kent, England; three grandchildren, Brett Vass of Virginia Beach, Hazel Rhee of Kent, England, and Brittany Neilson of Pensacola, Florida; his stepsons, Jason Hughes of Des Moines, Iowa and Brian Hughes of Menefee, California; his stepdaughter, Jennifer Faccio of San Diego, California; and four step-grandchildren, Lauren Hughes, Aiden Hughes, Abby Faccio, and Andrea Faccio.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Staunton with Father Tom Collins officiating.
