G. Hughes Mitchell

VERONA, VA…Hughes Mitchell, 89, husband of Betty (Snider) Mitchell of 301 Skyview Circle, died Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born November 26, 1928, in Martinsville, a son of the late George W. and Manilla (Stovall) Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean Conflict. Prior to retirement, he was employed by DuPont and was a bus driver for the Augusta County School System for 23 years.He was a member of Vision of Hope United Methodist Church in Harrisonburg. In addition to his wife, family members include three sons, Dennis R. Mitchell (Faith), Douglas P. Mitchell (Brenda), and Donald H. Mitchell (Donna); a sister, Mildred M. Kiser (Johnny); four grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry L. Mitchell and a sister, Louise M. Roadcap. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2018, in Thornrose Cemetery by the Rev. David Burch. The family will receive friends anytime at the residence. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
