Gary Wayne Ayres

GARY W. AYRES  STAUNTON, VA… Gary Wayne Ayres, 70, of Staunton, died Saturday, January 27, 2018 at his residence.  He was born September 9, 1947 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Layton Willis and Helen Irene (Howell) Ayres.  Mr. Ayres was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Nibco. His passion was riding his “Harley” and enjoying making others laugh with his jokes.  Family members include a son; a brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Barbara Ayres of Middlebrook; a sister, Kim Ayres Vest of Lexington; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and Byron Ayres and two sisters, Susan and Pat.    A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
