Gary E. Cook

SWOOPE, VA… Gary Edward Cook, 62, of Swoope, died Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born August 15, 1956, in Waynesboro, a son of Emily Geraldine (Hammer) and the late Boyd Ernest Cook. He received a BSN in Nursing from JMU in 1984 and a BA in Administration from JMU in 1980. Mr. Cook was employed as a RN Unit Supervisor with Western State Hospital for 32 years. In addition to his mother, family members include three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Boyd “Bodie” and Liz Cook, Kevin Cook, and David and Kelly Cook; and best friends, Sotomil family, all of Staunton. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2018, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dr. Cynthia Long. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. There will be no public viewing or visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105
