Gary Thomas Roadcap, Sr.

STAUNTON, VA…   Gary Thomas Roadcap, Sr., 71, husband of Cynthia Ann (Bowers) Roadcap, of 19 Sunset Acres Lane, died Saturday, January 2, 2016 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 16, 1944 in Augusta County, a son of the late Clarence Edward and Ethel (Eustler) Roadcap. Mr. Roadcap retired from Wayn-Tex after twenty seven and a half years of service. He had a passion for raising thoroughbreds on his farm and enjoyed the Charlestown Horse Races. Surviving family members include six children and their spouses, Carolyn “Carol” Roadcap and Mark Steele, Gary, Jr. “Tommy” and Tammy Roadcap, Randall “Randy” and Martha Roadcap, Kevin and Sherri Roadcap, Matthew and Pamela Roadcap, and Ashley Roadcap and fiancé, Andrew Taylor; fifteen grandchildren, Chelsea Steele and fiancé Nathan Shepherd, Hank, Travis, Shyann, and Hunter Roadcap, Kayleen, Jessica and Emily Roadcap, Alye, Andy, Abby and Alayna Roadcap, Colby Roadcap, and Emma and Brayden Taylor; two brothers, Garland and Dennis-Jordan Roadcap, several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Sonny and Deanna Smith. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Roadcap, and three sisters, Peachy Shifflett, Barbara Campbell, and Betty Parr.  A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 7, 2016 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Larry Strickler.  Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Ty Roadcap, Roger Bowling, Jr., Scott White, Noah Burke, Lynn Proffitt, Stacy Shifflett, A.J. Nolen and Andrew Taylor. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the funeral home.
