GEORGE M. HOLCOMB STAUNTON, VA George "Bill" Melvin Holcomb, 82, widower of Karin Marie (Eriksen) Holcomb, of 11 Skyline View Drive, died Sunday, October 7, 2012. He was born May 9, 1930, in Bassett, a son of the late William Whitten and Mary Evelyn (Hodges) Holcomb. Mr. Holcomb was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He retired from McQuay in 1995 with 42 years of service. He was a member of Marquis Memorial United Methodist Church. He was an avid musician. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, Wesley Holcomb; a brother, William Holcomb; and a sister, Lucille Hull. Family members include three daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa Holcomb, Lynn and Michael Wagner, and Cindy and Mike Huffman; three sisters, Geraldine Wamsley, Barbara Shaver, and Betty Karicofe; six grandchildren, Nick Fralin, Frankie Stickley, Aimee Hall, Sam and Tyler Terry, and Amanda Wade; and five great grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012, in Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. John Ward. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Hani Baramki, and John L. Hodges. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012, in the Henry Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 4504 Starkey Road, SW, Suite 115, Roanoke, VA 24018.
