George William Knott

GEORGE W. KNOTT STAUNTON, VA George William Knott, 87, widower of Bessie Leigh (Lunsford) Knott, formerly of 1609 Dennison Avenue, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at Emeritus in Staunton. He was born May 3, 1925, in Parnassus, a son of the late J.M. and Mary Knott. Prior to retirement, Mr. Knott was employed as a pickup and delivery driver for Smith Transfer with 35 years of service. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Pamela (Boyers) Knott; three brothers; and six sisters. Family members include a son, George Steven Knott of Staunton; a sister, Helen Morris of Stuarts Draft; two grandchildren, Tracy L. and Johnny Wills of Wise and Jason W. and Debbie McAllister of Crimora; and four great grandchildren, John Steven, Samuel Haden, and Bianka Elizabeth Wills, and Hunter McCray. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 at Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. Russell Heinrich. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2013, in the Henry Funeral Home.
