GEORGE E. SOLT   STAUNTON, VA… George Edward Solt, 64, husband of Peggy (Beachum) Solt, of Staunton, died Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Norfolk General Hospital. He was born October 26, 1952, in Bowie, Maryland, a son of Sylvia (Eastep) Solt Boyle and the late John Edward Solt. Prior to retirement, George was employed by Verizon as a phone switch technician with 35 years of service. He was a swim instructor for children at the YMCA. George was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He had a contagious smile and positive energy. He was an avid musician, artist, music lover, and Star Trek fan. George  loved his life in Staunton, Diet Coke, and Yahtzee. In addition to his wife and mother, family members include two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Niki Solt of Ruckersville and Justin and Jana Solt of Richmond; two daughters and a son-in-law, Angela and Robert Wilson of Staunton and Ashleigh Solt and Josh Angus of Crimora; two brothers, Arthur Solt and Roger Solt both of Ocean City, MD; a sister, Elizabeth Peters of Pennsylvania; and seven grandchildren, Brianna Solt, Allyson Solt, Rowan Solt, Gavin Solt, Aiden Solt, Barrett Solt, and Carson Angus. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2017 in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church by the Rev. Sarah Locke and Pastor Shane Lilly. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. Friends attending the service are encouraged to wear bright colors for George. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m. Thursday, August 17, 2017 in the Henry Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Staunton-Augusta YMCA, 708 N Coalter Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
