WAYNESBORO, VA...Giles Barksdale Trimble, widower of Lucille (Arehart) Trimble, of Summit Square, Waynesboro, formerly a resident of Staunton, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016. Mr. Trimble was born April 19, 1923, a twin to William Wallace Trimble, Jr., in Swoope, Virginia.  He was a son of the late William Wallace Trimble, Sr. and Genieve Barksdale Trimble.  He was preceded in death by older brother Walter Haynes Trimble and wife Elizabeth Bear Trimble, and William Wallace Trimble, Jr., and wife Callie Trimble and nephew Edwin Trimble.  He is survived by his nephew, Douglas Trimble of Staunton; and niece, Sally Trimble of Middlebrook. Mr. Trimble grew up at Trimble’s Mill near Swoope, attending school at Hebron Elementary, Beverley Manor H.S. and Virginia Tech, earning a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.  He served three year in WWII in Army Air Force as Air-crew member during air-lift between China and India.  The airlift included 86 trips over Himalaya Mountains.  Recipient of Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal. Mr. Trimble attended Hebron Presbyterian Church since childhood, elected to Board of Deacons in 1967 and to Session in 1974.  He has served as chairman of Cemetery Committee and other committees in addition to Trustee of the Church. Employed by T. A. Loving Company, (General Contractors), Goldsboro, N.C. in 1948.  Licensed as a Professional Engineer, trained on projects in Virginia and Florida, promoted to Project Superintendent, and later to Project Manager completing some 18 bridges and other marine structures, the most notable being three bridges each over three miles in length.  Giles retired in 1998 having completed 50 years of bridge construction work. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016 in Hebron Presbyterian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Frank Wyche.  A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Church and the family will receive friends following the service.
