Glenn Otterbein Glovier VERONA, VA… Glenn Otterbein Glovier, 92 of 171 Indian Mound Road, Verona, Virginia went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2017 at Avante, Waynesboro, Virginia. Mr. Glovier was born January 9, 1924 in Verona, Virginia. He was the son of the late Rev. David Franklin and Ethel (Gabbert) Glovier and was the last of his immediate family. He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, Staunton, Virginia.  He received further education at Shenandoah University,  Texas A & M, and then Washington and Lee following World War II. He served in the United States Marine Corps with overseas duty in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Staunton Alliance Church having served as an elder and a member on other boards and committees. He was one of the original board members of the Valley Mission for 18 years, having served as Chairman of the Board for three years. Before he retired in 1988, he was employed by the U.S. Post Office, Staunton, Virginia for 28 years. Prior to this, he was a salesman for Beverly Book Co. for 11 years and a weaving instructor at Celanese Corp. in Verona, Virginia for 6 years.  After his retirement, he enjoyed caring for his wild birds and gardening.   Surviving are his wife Anna Catherine (Faught) Glovier whom he married August 2, 1946; a daughter, Jenny Leigh Liskey, wife of Greg Liskey of Elkton, Virginia; 8 grandchildren, Rachel Ramsbottom and husband John, Ruth Weese and fiancé Rob Travers, Anna Carroll and husband Dennis, Rebekah and Sarah Connor; Elizabeth Coleman and husband James, Abigail Turnbull and husband Conner and Jason Liskey. 5 great-grandchildren, Lee Nolen, Aaron and Ryan Coleman,  James Weese, and Connor Carroll. He was preceded in death by a son, Carl Milton, a daughter, Terrie Anna Connor; two sisters, Kathleen Lockridge and Davie Hogg, four brothers Fadley, Frank, George and Harry Glovier. A service will be held at 11:00 am on January 9, 2017 in the Henry Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Bill Schmeissing with burial in Thornrose Cemetery, Staunton, Virginia. Active pallbearers will be Rev. Paul Glovier, Harold Fry, Danny Almarode, Jerry Cleveland, Guy Tudor, Jason Liskey and James Coleman. Honorary pallbearers will be Kindred Spirits Senior Group of Staunton Alliance Church. The family will receive friends from 4 until 5:30 p.m. January 8, 2017 at Henry Funeral Home. It is suggested that those desiring may make memorial donations to the building fund of Staunton Alliance Church, 560 New Hope Road, Staunton, Virginia 24401.
