GORDON B. CLEMENTS GREENVILLE, VA…Gordon Berkley Clements, 83, husband of Jeanne (Roudabush) Clements, of 45 Rockin Lane, died Sunday, April 30, 2017, in Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born May 30, 1933, in Alberene, a son of the late Luther and Ada (Phillips) Clements. He graduated from Scottsville High School in 1951. Mr. Clements was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War as a medic. He was a member of the Alberene Masonic Lodge #277 for 53 years, where he served as Master for 14 years. He also served as District Deputy for the Masons in 1978. He was an avid baseball and basketball player. In the 1950’s he played against Willie Mays in a semi-pro ball tournament in Charlottesville. He got to meet Marilyn Monroe while serving in Korea during her USO visit with the troops. He was an avid farmer and gardner, was a boxing enthusiast and had met many champion boxers and received his real estate license. He loved old western movies and even named his horse, Trigger, after Roy Rogers’ horse. Gordon had a love for automobiles and even worked at Eastside Speedway. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Virginia ABC Board as manager. In addition to his wife of 48 ½ years, family members include a son, Bryant Berkley Clements of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverley Shifflett Clements. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Mr. Wayne Tyree. Burial will follow in the Alberene Baptist Church Cemetery at 3 p.m. Masonic rites will be performed by Alberene Masonic Lodge #277 and Most Worshipful William Talbott Ellison, Jr. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in the Henry Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be John Greene, Chris Guffey, Eddie Smith, and Dennis Hayes. Honarary pallbearers will be members of Alberene Masonic Lodge #277. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Central and Western Virginia Chapter, 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 306, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
