Georgia M. Phinney

Georgia Martina “Marti” (Hartman) Phinney, 76, widow of John Myron Phinney, Sr., passed away Monday, August 22, 2022 at her sister’s residence.

Marti was born on July 23, 1946 in Huntsville, AL to the late George Martin and Doris Ellen (Rutledge) Hartman.

Marti loved to play scrabble, was a great cook, loved to spend time with her family, and she loved reading, especially at the beach. Marti was very strong in her walk with the Lord.

Marti is survived by her children, John Myron Phinney, Jr. (Karla), Daniel B. Phinney, Carrie C. Phinney, and a grandson, Liam Delutis and Michael A. Phinney,; two brothers, Randy Hartman and Ted Hartman; three sisters, Cindy Matthews, Rita Christensen, and Dawn Oyler.

In addition to her husband and parents, Marti is preceded in death by a brother, Guy Hartman and a sister, Pam Sibert.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm, Friday, August 26, 2022 at Henry Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 6:00 pm, Saturday, August 27, 2022 at West Waynesboro Church of Christ. A reception will follow.

Burial will be private at Culpeper National Cemetery.
