Grace T. Ullrich

Grace Theresa (Twomey) Ullrich, 101, passed away on August 2, 2022, at Augusta Health. She was born on August 1, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY to the late John and Grace (Ketcham) Twomey. She married the late Albert Paul Ullrich on June 4, 1949, and together they raised a raucous brood of five wonderful sons.

A graduate of St. John’s University, Mrs. Ullrich was employed there as a secretary in the biology department for many years until her retirement. In her later years, Grace enjoyed square dancing, her book groups at the Augusta County Public Library, perfecting her green thumb in her expansive gardens, travelling across the country, and spending time with her many beloved grandchildren. She was also a very active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas and his wife, Jackie, of Staunton, VA, Brian and his wife, Carla, of Wilmington, NC, Timothy and his wife, Anne, of McKinney, TX and Richard and his wife, Jennifer, of Manorville, NY; 21 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Albert John Ullrich; a sister, Julia Corso; and her brothers, John and Thomas Twomey.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Henry Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Thornrose Cemetery by Father J. Morton Biber. A memorial mass will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 118 North New Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
