Hansford A. Shiflett

Staunton, VA…   Hansford “Bub” Allen Shiflett, 95, widower of Eugenia “Jean” Deane (Garrett) Shiflett, of 946 Balsley Road, died Friday, February 16, 2018 at Augusta Health. He was born on June 25, 1922 in Augusta County, a son of the late George Allen and Sadie Pearl (Shifflett) Shiflett. He was retired from American Safety Razor (ASR). He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed. Surviving family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Roger Allen and Goldie Shiflett; two grandsons, W. Todd Shiflett, and Eric Shiflett and wife, Ginny; two great grandsons, Christopher and Travis Shiflett; two great granddaughters, Katlyn Bates and husband Luke, and Hannah Shiflett; three sisters-in-law, Thelma G. Massey, Audrey Blackwell, and Shirley Garrett; special nephews, David Shifflett and Butch Nulty; and special caregivers, Margaret Alphin, Nellie Austin and Shirley Garrett. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Shifflett. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in the Henry Funeral Home by Rev. Charles Bates. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be W. Todd Shiflett, Eric Shiflett, Christopher Shiflett, Travis Shiflett, Luke Bates, and Butch Nulty. Honorary pallbearers will be George Newman, Jim Ashby, Stacy Painter. The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m., Sunday, February 18, 2018 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fishersville United Methodist Church, Memorial Fund, 1600 Jefferson Highway, Fishersville, VA 22939.
