Harrison Hite

STAUNTON, VA ….             Harrison Hite, 84, husband of Carolyn Ashby Hite, of Hermitage Road, Staunton, died Thursday, August 25, 2016.             He was born August 22, 1932, in Staunton, a son of the late Daniel and Mamie (Cash) Hite.             Mr. Hite was a veteran of the U.S. Army.             Prior to retirement, he was employed by Hopeman Brothers.             He was a member of Annex United Methodist Church.             He is survived by his wife and a son, Victor R. Hite of Staunton; a daughter, Danielle M. Hite and partner, Carlston Vandevander, Sr. of Staunton; a brother, Oliver Hite; seven grandchildren, Christina Rankin and Marc, Douglas “Casey” Swisher and Nicole, Alex, Emily and Gabriel Hite, Meade and Minor Vandevander; and four great grandchildren, Sierra Swisher, Ayden Rankin, Lexi and Bryce Swisher.             He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Swisher; a granddaughter, Savahana Swisher; a brother, James Wilson Hite; and two sisters, Candy Snyder and Joyce Henderson.             A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM, on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 in Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. Gayle Thornberry.             The family will receive friends from 6 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 in the Henry Funeral Home.             In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Annex United Methodist Church, 1570 New Hope Road, Staunton, VA 24401.
