HARRY H. ELLIS, JR. STAUNTON, VA… Harry Howard Ellis, Jr., 74, husband of Linda Ellis, of Staunton, died Sunday, April 1, 2018 at his residence. He was born May 27, 1943 in Louisville, KY, a son of the late Harry Howard, Sr., and Elizabeth (Phelps) Ellis. His father was a career Army officer, which afforded Harry the opportunity to live all over the world as a child. He was a graduate of the University of Florida and then joined the Army. He retired as a NASA engineer. He spent many weekends sailing the Chesapeake Bay on his boat, “Sand Castle”. When he retired, he and Lynn cruised around the world. In addition to his wife, family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Lisa Ellis; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Alan Flemming; step-son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Kathy Quimby; step-daughter and son-in-law, Laura and David Coleman; three grandchildren, Shannon, Kaitlyn, Jonathan; and five step-grandchildren, Andrew, Betsy, Ryan, Derek, and Adam. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Lynne (Barnes) Ellis and a brother, David Ellis. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2018 in Mt. Jackson Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. in Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Sidney, by Pastor Derek Boggs. Military honors by the American Legion Muhlenberg Post #199, Woodstock, VA. The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service.
