Harry Reed Mccray

HARRY R. MCCRAY STAUNTON, VA… Harry Reed McCray, 94, widower of Alphadine (Meyerhoeffer) McCray, of 60 Plaza Apartment Drive, died Thursday, August 3, 2017, at his residence. He was born March 21, 1923, in Newport, a son of the late David Henry, Jr., and Lottie Mae (Reed) McCray. Mr. McCray was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Westinghouse. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Lee McCray and Bobby Lee McCray; a sister, Mabel McCray Hutchens; his grandson, Jacob Hunter Wonderley; a daughter-in-law, Susan (Fitz) McCray; and longtime companion, Alma Ferguson McCray. Family members include a son, Michael Meyerhoeffer McCray of Staunton; a daughter and son-in-law, Julie Anna (McCray) Turner and Timothy Roane Turner of Staunton; a brother, David Henry McCray III of Steeles Tavern; and two grandchildren, Kimberly Louise McCray and Ethan Paul Wonderley. A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, August 6, 2017 in Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church by the Rev. Alfred Fogleman. Burial will be private in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 in the Henry Funeral Home.
