HARRY B. WHITLOCK, JR. STAUNTON, VA Harry Burnard Whitlock, Jr., 65, husband of Brenda Sue (Wolfe) Whitlock, of 1401 Pleasant View Street, was called home on Sunday, October 5, 2014, from his residence. He was born September 12, 1949, in Staunton a son of Judith Grey (Losh) Whitlock of Greenville and the late Harry B. Whitlock, Sr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald Eugene Wolfe, Sr., and Clara Louise Wolfe; and a special aunt, Ora Arebaugh. In addition to his wife of 35 years and his mother, family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Chrissy and Joe Thompson of Staunton; a grandson, Zachary David Thompson; a granddaughter, Carter Rae Thompson; and three brothers, Gary Whitlock of Essex, Maryland, Larry Whitlock of Staunton, and Terry Whitlock of Richmond. Mr. Whitlock graduated from Kenwood Senior High School in Baltimore, Maryland in 1959. He retired from DuPont where he was a spinner operator in Nylon. Prior to that he was a brakeman and conductor for Conrail Railroad out of Baltimore, Maryland. He was a member of the VFW and current governor of Staunton Moose Lodge #1635. Harry had many special interests and hobbies, including watching westerns, working on cars, and shooting pool. The birth of his grandchildren inspired a special gift of decorating for the holidays, making every holiday a dream come true, including his holiday light display enjoyed by all. He had a passion for animals and is survived by his treasured dogs, Sebastian, Cartman, and Ariel; and Angel the cat. For many years he bred miniature Doberman pinchers. He also trained and showed Tennessee Walkers. His most successful being Ebony's Top Man. The thing he enjoyed most in his life was spending time with his grandchildren, who knew him as Pop-Pop. He was present for every milestone and achievement in their lives. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Chuck Balsamo. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by Augusta-Staunton VFW Post #2216. Active pallbearers will be Joe Thompson, Zachary Thompson, Gary, Larry, and Terry Whitlock, Christian Santiago, A.J. Dobzeniecki, and Roger Huffman. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Staunton moose Lodge #1635. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014, in the funeral home.
