HARVEY L. HAYES STAUNTON, VA Harvey Leslie "Bill" Hayes, 80, husband of Doris Loraine (McNulty) Hayes, of 819 N. Coalter Street, died Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Shenandoah House of Augusta Health. He was born July 16, 1933, in Essex County, a son of the late Gorden and Grace (Saunders) Hayes. Mr. Hayes was a student at VSDB and later worked as a dorm supervisor and shop teacher for 35 years. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where he attended the Adult Fellowship Class and Sunshine Senior Group. In addition to his wife, family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Harvey and Ann Smith Hayes of Staunton; a daughter, Shelley Gayhart of Staunton; a grandson, Timothy Bradley Hayes; three brothers and a sister all of Essex County; two special nieces, Mary Mann and Alice Mae Hundley; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, in Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens by the Revs. Bryson Smith and Wade Munford. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sunday school class and three special couples, Don and Lola Cox of Salem, Bob and Nancy Rinker and Bert and Helen Fary, all of Staunton. The family will receive friends following the service at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 215, Fishersville, VA 22939 or St. Paul's United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2000 Shutterlee Mill Road, Staunton, VA 24401. Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
